Training Current training programs include counteracting the alcohol & tobacco industries, club drugs vs. rave culture, strategic planning, organizing youth conferences, public speaking, media advocacy, technical assistance, using technology to develop and market messages, and effectively incorporating HIV/AIDS and substance abuse prevention efforts. Advocacy & Public Policy For years, the Partnership has assisted local neighborhoods to advocate for greater control over ordinances and policies that affect those communities. Currently, the Partnership is active in a statewide movement to stop the marketing and sale of alcohol to minors by monitoring events, conducting surveys, and holding public hearings. Public Policy efforts focus on leading local and statewide legislative educational campaigns to improve the quality of life for residents in the San Fernando Valley. Prevention The Partnership develops and implements culturally relevant, science-based, prevention strategies based on the community empowerment model. Most importantly, programs are developed in collaboration with those it serves. All Partnership programs are evaluated to document process and measure effectiveness. Research & Evaluation Recently, the Partnership's youth conducted a Valley-wide Youth Health Survey to identify perception of health status, knowledge of health resources available and perceived health needs. The research and evaluation program is designed to determine the community’s needs and resources, disseminate research findings, and evaluate program effectiveness. |
