ABOUT THE PARTNERSHIP

In 1990, a coalition of community-based organizations from across the San Fernando Valley—including Northeast Valley Health Corporation, El Proyecto del Barrio, Tarzana Treatment Centers, Pacoima Community Youth Cultural Center, El Centro de Amistad, the Latin American Civic Organization, Hermandad Mexicana Nacional, and California State University, Northridge—came together to create the San Fernando Valley Partnership. United by a shared commitment to public health and alarmed by the devastating impact of substance abuse on Valley communities, these organizations recognized that lasting progress would require more than individual intervention. The Partnership was established to advance community-level change by bringing people, institutions, and resources together to strengthen prevention, promote health, and improve the conditions affecting the well-being of communities across the Valley.
